Before You Buy

Vintage Watch Considerations

A few notes on what to expect from a vintage piece, and how we sell.

Sold As-Is

Every watch on our site is sold as-is, in the condition it is in at the time of sale. We describe and photograph each piece as accurately as we can, but vintage watches carry the marks of age: patina, light wear, faint scratches, dial spotting, and tonal shifts that don't always read in photos. The absence of a specific note in a listing does not mean the watch is free of these characteristics.

We encourage you to study the photos, ask questions, and request additional media or an in-person viewing before committing to a purchase.

A Note on Warranty

Watches sold through our site are offered as-is, without a warranty. Every piece leaves our workshop running and checked over, but these are old mechanical things, and a watch keeping time well one week can drift or stop the next.

That said, we're not going anywhere after a sale. If something feels off when your watch arrives, please reach out and we'll talk it through.

Timekeeping

We do not guarantee timekeeping accuracy. Vintage mechanical and antique watches are not as precise as modern quartz or electronic timepieces, and even a freshly serviced movement will drift within tolerances that depend on position, temperature, and how the watch is worn. We recommend a full service for any watch entering daily use.

Water Resistance

We don't treat any vintage watch as water resistant, even when the case or paperwork suggests otherwise. Seals and gaskets simply don't hold up the way they did when the watch was new. To be safe, please keep your watch away from water, steam, and high humidity.

Originality of Parts

We do not guarantee the originality of every individual component. Vintage watches commonly pass through multiple owners and watchmakers over the course of their lives, and service parts such as crowns, crystals, hands, and even dials may have been replaced or restored along the way. When we know a part is a service replacement, we say so. When we are uncertain, we describe it that way as well.

Measurements & Dating

Case diameters, lug widths, production years, and other measurements are provided as a courtesy and should be treated as approximate. Year of manufacture, in particular, is often estimated from serial number ranges and reference data that can shift as new information surfaces.

Condition Reports

Any reference to condition in a listing or condition report is a summary, not an exhaustive accounting. We are happy to provide additional photos, a video walkthrough, or specific close-ups on request before you purchase.

Questions or a Closer Look

If anything here is unclear, or if you'd like additional media or a deeper look at a specific watch, email Team@VictorBonnaire.com or reach out through our contact form. We'd rather answer ten questions up front than have a watch arrive and not be what you expected.
