Wakmann, established in New York in 1946, became a key player in the American watch market by importing and assembling Swiss watches to navigate import restrictions. The brand is best known for its chronographs and technical watches, often powered by reliable Swiss movements and assembled in partnership with firms like Charles Gigandet and, for a time, Breitling.

Notes

This Wakmann chronograph features a 36mm steel case that sits in overall fair condition. It shows some scratches and minimal material loss to the edge of its case. Its black dial is clean, with some light wear to its surface. Its lume plots remain intact. We will note that its chronograph center seconds hand resets a half second behind the 12 o’clock position. Its crystal is clean and its case back shows some visible scratches and shows a 332 23 stamp which typically notates the reference for a separate Wakmann chronograph. This part was likely used by many Wakmann produced chronographs and we even found an example of a Marcel Et Cie chronograph sporting the same stamped back. This piece is powered by a 17-jeweled Valjoux 7733 movement and is fitted with a black leather strap and steel buckle. Overall, this Wakmann chronograph sits in fair vintage condition, showing wear consistent with its age.
