This Vulcain timepiece, crafted in approx. the 1950s or 1960s, represents a fascinating chapter in Vulcain's history. During this period, Vulcain was known for its innovative designs and high-quality watches, particularly its famous Cricket alarm watches. However, this model showcases the brand's versatility in producing elegant dress watches as well.
Design and Construction
This piece features a yellow gold-plated case with a steel case back, measuring approximately 35mm in diameter with a lug-to-lug length of about 39mm.
Movement
This Vulcain uses a manual-wind FHF 81 caliber, featuring 17 jewels. The FHF 81 movement is a significant piece of horological history. Produced by Fabrique d'Horlogerie de Fontainemelon (FHF), one of the oldest movement manufacturers in Switzerland, this caliber was widely used and respected in the industry for its reliability and accuracy.
Key features of the FHF 81 movement include its robust construction, good timekeeping precision, and sub-seconds functionality. Typically operating at 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz), this movement allowed for a thinner case profile. The movement in this Vulcain runs well at the time of listing, but has not been bench tested for precise accuracy.
Signature Features
The subtle, yet eye-catching sub-seconds complication at 6 o'clock allows for this Vulcain to remain a clean dress watch with some additional flare.
Dial and Aesthetics
The silver dial retains an elegant feel for the overall presence of the piece. This piece is protected by a plastic crystal.

We accept returns within 3 days of receiving your purchase. Returns must be sent fully insured with the shipping costs covered by the customer.
