Omega
Omega
This Omega timepiece, crafted in the 1960s or early 1970s, exemplifies the brand's commitment to precision and elegance during a pivotal era in watchmaking. The Calibre 601, featured in this watch, was one of Omega's most successful and long-lived movements, remaining in production for nearly two decades.
Design and Construction
This Omega features a rose gold-plated case measuring approximately 34mm in diameter, with a lug-to-lug length of about 39mm.
Movement
At the heart of this timepiece beats the Omega Calibre 601, a manual-wind movement renowned for its reliability and precision. This 17-jewel movement represents the pinnacle of Omega's engineering prowess during this period. Notably, the Calibre 601 was Omega's last in-house hand-wound caliber. It features a 42-hour power reserve, ensuring consistent timekeeping between windings. The movement in this Omega runs well at the time of listing, but has not been bench tested for precise accuracy.
Signature Features
While this model doesn't feature additional complications, its focus on precise timekeeping and elegant design speaks to Omega's philosophy of refined simplicity. The manual-winding mechanism offers a connection between the wearer and the watch.
Dial and Aesthetics
The gold indices on this piece offer excellent legibility against its clean silvered backdrop. This piece is protected by a plastic crystal.
Strap and Wearability
This Omega comes fitted with a brown leather strap measuring approximately 7 inches (not including watch head).
