Minerva | 1940's Chronograph
Minerva | 1940's Chronograph

This Minerva embodies the pioneering spirit of mid-century chronographs, rooted in one of the earliest wrist-worn designs from a historic Swiss manufacture. This watch’s stark black dial, accented by a bold tachymeter scale and luminous markers, displays what close to 85 years of graceful aging can do. While Minerva’s later absorption into Montblanc signaled the end of its independence, these vintage chronographs remain essential artifacts of early chronographs.

Notes
This Minerva features a 36mm steel case that sits in overall good condition. It sports some surface scratches, most notably to the left side of its case where three prominent scratches can be seen. Its gloss black dial is remarkably clean, with beautifully aged lumed indices and syringe hands. It sports a striking tachymeter scale on its outer perimeter that matches the style of its small seconds, 30 minute, and 12 hour registers. This piece is powered by a 17-jeweled Valjoux 72 manually wound movement and is fitted with an aftermarket black genuine leather strap and plain steel buckle. Its crystal sits in good condition with only a small mark above the four o’clock indice. Overall, this Minerva chronograph sits in great vintage condition, showing only light wear consistent with its age.
