Mathey-Tissot, founded in 1886 by Edmond Mathey-Tissot in Les Ponts-de-Martel, Switzerland, built its early reputation on the production of high-quality repeater watches and chronographs. Mathey-Tissot’s watches were favored by military personnel and even prominent figures like General Pershing, who awarded them to his staff. Through the 20th century, the brand continued to produce reliable mechanical watches and became popular among both the public and celebrities, with Elvis Presley famously gifting custom Mathey-Tissot watches to his inner circle in the late 1960s and 1970s. Today, Mathey-Tissot is recognized for its blend of Swiss heritage and classic design.

Notes
This Mathey Tissot features a 22mm wide by 40mm lug-to-lug 14K yellow gold case that sits in overall good condition. It sports light scratches from careful wear and a small visible material loss to the tips of its lugs. Its silvered/champagne dial showcases its most wear with some visible marks across its surface, most notable to the right of the 9 o’clock indice. Its brand notation remains crisp and legible as do its its timing notations to its dial and sub-seconds complication. This piece is powered by a 17-jeweled manual-wind movement and is fitted with a black leather strap. Overall, this Mathey Tissot sits in good vintage condition, showing wear consistent with its age, most noticeably to its dial.
